Nowadays, we can see people carrying digital camera everywhere. Almost each of us carry camera with us either a dedicated digital camera or handphone with camera. With the rapid progress of CCD/CMOS sensor technology which enabled us to capture digital images, the amount of pixels which also directly proportional to the picture size also rapidly increase.
From <1 megapixels back in year 2000, we can get the same price with better features camera of 8-10 megapixels in year 2009. More pixels means larger size. Some very busy people do not really have the leisure time to upload the original 10-megapixel photo which size around 4-5 megabytes (MB). If you notice, if you upload to any photo sharing sites, the photo will be resize to a smaller resolution. Taking for example flickr, the maximum resolution (for free account) is 1024 at the long side. Thus, it is good to resize first the photo before uploading to avoid long uploading time. To help us do the resize in batch, I would like to share in this article a software that can help us to resize, edit and put watermark on the photos. Not only 1 photos, but a batch of photos.
I started to Google around to look for freeware that can do batch convert of photos. The reason is that I want to upload the photos to my website and I want all photos to be watermarked. Of course, for those familiar with Adobe Photoshop, this super duper software is able to do batch processing and some other complicated processes which most of us would not really need. [Read More…]

Recently, people were talking about the risk of using Polycarbonate (PC) material for water bottles. Previously, people were shocked by the news that Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles such as mineral water bottles should not be used because it is a risk to our health.
I believe after the news regarding the PET bottles spread out, every each of us start to buy PC bottles. So, what is actually happening here?
According to US FDA (Food & Drug Administration), PET is pretty much safe material to be used as food container. However, it is not suitable to fill up boiled water since the typical glass transition temperature for PET is 75 deg C. So, what about PC? The typical glass transition temperature for PC is 150 deg C. It should be ok if you fill it up with boiled water ~100 deg C. But, actually, that is not the problem. [Read More…]

Have you ever have problems sharing big file with your friends or with the whole world? Sending through email? Upload to the hosting sites? We are talking about file size more than 10 MB here.
Most email accounts either free or paid will only handle up to 10 MB per email. I’ve experience sent email slightly over 10 MB using gmail. But that’s the limit. You don’t talk about sending email 30 MB or 50 MB. After surveying few sites, I found out that YouSendIt will help you to send up to 100 MB of file to the recipient. It helped me a lot and it might help you too.
Regarding the online storage, there are quite numbers of online storage sites out there that are current providing this service. However, after a short survey, I would like to recommend you to use 4shared. I’ve used 4shared to host my large files to be shared as download link in my website. This site give you free 5 GB of storage with the limitation of 100 MB per file. Trust me, if you want to find a free file hosting site, this is among the best.
Other file hosting sites that you might be interested … [Read More…]

gmapsupp.img is the map file which is recognized by Garmin GPS devices. This map file can be transferred into the Garmin GPS devices and you can view the map using the GPS devices.
But, how these maps were created? Definately if you download the free maps from my collection (thanks to malsingmaps.com), you need to convert the files to gmapsupp.img before you can transfer to Garmin GPS devices. This can be done using a small software called sendmap. [Read More…]

BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing protocol which was developed by Bram Cohen in the year 2001. It was first became popular when fans of Japanese Anime started using the protocol to share the anime in the year 2003. It then grows when people are started to share movies, tv series (Smallville, Heroes, Grey’s Anatomy, etc) and even applications and games. Some people said that you may find everything in torrent even a copy of a magazine.
So, if it so useful, why BitTorrent becomes a concern? Well this is a very tricky question. It becomes a concern not to the BitTorrent users, but to the surrounding community. We are not talking about moral issues here, but more on technical issues.
Before we go further, let us learn how BitTorrent works … [Read More…]
