Nowadays, we can see people carrying digital camera everywhere. Almost each of us carry camera with us either a dedicated digital camera or handphone with camera. With the rapid progress of CCD/CMOS sensor technology which enabled us to capture digital images, the amount of pixels which also directly proportional to the picture size also rapidly increase.
From <1 megapixels back in year 2000, we can get the same price with better features camera of 8-10 megapixels in year 2009. More pixels means larger size. Some very busy people do not really have the leisure time to upload the original 10-megapixel photo which size around 4-5 megabytes (MB). If you notice, if you upload to any photo sharing sites, the photo will be resize to a smaller resolution. Taking for example flickr, the maximum resolution (for free account) is 1024 at the long side. Thus, it is good to resize first the photo before uploading to avoid long uploading time. To help us do the resize in batch, I would like to share in this article a software that can help us to resize, edit and put watermark on the photos. Not only 1 photos, but a batch of photos.
I started to Google around to look for freeware that can do batch convert of photos. The reason is that I want to upload the photos to my website and I want all photos to be watermarked. Of course, for those familiar with Adobe Photoshop, this super duper software is able to do batch processing and some other complicated processes which most of us would not really need. [Read More…]

Have you ever have problems sharing big file with your friends or with the whole world? Sending through email? Upload to the hosting sites? We are talking about file size more than 10 MB here.
Most email accounts either free or paid will only handle up to 10 MB per email. I’ve experience sent email slightly over 10 MB using gmail. But that’s the limit. You don’t talk about sending email 30 MB or 50 MB. After surveying few sites, I found out that YouSendIt will help you to send up to 100 MB of file to the recipient. It helped me a lot and it might help you too.
Regarding the online storage, there are quite numbers of online storage sites out there that are current providing this service. However, after a short survey, I would like to recommend you to use 4shared. I’ve used 4shared to host my large files to be shared as download link in my website. This site give you free 5 GB of storage with the limitation of 100 MB per file. Trust me, if you want to find a free file hosting site, this is among the best.

gmapsupp.img is the map file which is recognized by Garmin GPS devices. This map file can be transferred into the Garmin GPS devices and you can view the map using the GPS devices.
But, how these maps were created? Definately if you download the free maps from my collection (thanks to malsingmaps.com), you need to convert the files to gmapsupp.img before you can transfer to Garmin GPS devices. This can be done using a small software called sendmap. [Read More…]

BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing protocol which was developed by Bram Cohen in the year 2001. It was first became popular when fans of Japanese Anime started using the protocol to share the anime in the year 2003. It then grows when people are started to share movies, tv series (Smallville, Heroes, Grey’s Anatomy, etc) and even applications and games. Some people said that you may find everything in torrent even a copy of a magazine.
So, if it so useful, why BitTorrent becomes a concern? Well this is a very tricky question. It becomes a concern not to the BitTorrent users, but to the surrounding community. We are not talking about moral issues here, but more on technical issues.
Before we go further, let us learn how BitTorrent works … [Read More…]

I believe many of us already heard of Google Map. Whenever we want to find direction, directly we gonna go to Google Map. We are lucky enough because Internet is a necessity nowadays. But, what happen if the internet is down or we are in out of reach area?
Let me introduce you to a navigation software called Garmin MapSource. This software is actually supplied together if you buy selected model of Garmin GPS Receivers, but this software is available to be downloaded from Garmin Website. First time, I used this software when I bought a Garmin etrex Vista Cx back in the year 2006. During that time, Google Map still does not have the capability to provide turn by turn for my beloved country, Malaysia. However, I was really impressed when MapSource is able to provide me turn by turn from a point to another point. In fact, this software has helped me and my friends a lot in finding directions and routes in some familiar and unfamiliar areas.
Before I proceed to the comparison between Google Map and MapSource, you may visit my dedicated page for gps to help you on MapSource Installation with Malaysia map. If you interested to install map for other countries, you may visit Garmin website.
As a comparison, I gonna make a route from Suria KLCC (Twin-tower tallest in the world) to KL Pavilion (Shopping Complex) using both MapSource and Google Map. [Read More…]
