BitTorrent: Blessing or Disaster?

BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing protocol which was developed by Bram Cohen in the year 2001. It was first became popular when fans of Japanese Anime started using the protocol to share the anime in the year 2003. It then grows when people are started to share movies, tv series (Smallville, Heroes, Grey’s Anatomy, etc) and even applications and games. Some people said that you may find everything in torrent even a copy of a magazine.

bittorrent_logo.jpgSo, if it so useful, why BitTorrent becomes a concern? Well this is a very tricky question. It becomes a concern not to the BitTorrent users, but to the surrounding community. We are not talking about moral issues here, but more on technical issues.

Before we go further, let us learn how BitTorrent works … [Read More…]

Google Map vs Garmin MapSource

I believe many of us already heard of Google Map. Whenever we want to find direction, directly we gonna go to Google Map. We are lucky enough because Internet is a necessity nowadays. But, what happen if the internet is down or we are in out of reach area?

holding_etrex.jpgLet me introduce you to a navigation software called Garmin MapSource. This software is actually supplied together if you buy selected model of Garmin GPS Receivers, but this software is available to be downloaded from Garmin Website. First time, I used this software when I bought a Garmin etrex Vista Cx back in the year 2006. During that time, Google Map still does not have the capability to provide turn by turn for my beloved country, Malaysia. However, I was really impressed when MapSource is able to provide me turn by turn from a point to another point. In fact, this software has helped me and my friends a lot in finding directions and routes in some familiar and unfamiliar areas.

Before I proceed to the comparison between Google Map and MapSource, you may visit my dedicated page for gps to help you on MapSource Installation with Malaysia map. If you interested to install map for other countries, you may visit Garmin website.

As a comparison, I gonna make a route from Suria KLCC (Twin-tower tallest in the world) to KL Pavilion (Shopping Complex) using both MapSource and Google Map. [Read More…]

Sharing Is Caring

432978857_03e863d868_s.jpg
This is my first post to this newly installed blog on my website. I’ve been wondering for quite sometime whether should I start a blog or shouldn’t I. Well, looks like I’ve started now. :-)

As a start, I would like to tag this blog as “Sharing Is Caring” since I’m targeting to share some knowledge on whatever I know from a simple a-b-c or 1-2-3 to a complicated math or programming problem solving or relationship consultancy (I’m not sure which one is the rocket science though). Although it sounds like I know everything in the whole world, but trust me I know nothing and you gonna help me to learn and we will learn together. You can learn together with me by placing relevant comments in each post of course. :)

As a introduction to myself, I’m just a simple guy with an opinion, you may agree or disagree, no harm. The word “aerobrain” comes from two different fields of “aerospace” and “brain - neurology”. I admire aerospace so much because people always talking about rocket science is the most complicated stuff in this world. In fact, I was an Aerospace Engineering graduate. But then, a group of brain surgeons (neurologists) argued that neurology should be more complicated than the rocket science. Thus, I thought combining this two will be the most ever complicated stuff, if not impossible.

My hobby is photography. In fact, I started to create my website: afirozia.110mb.com after I bought my first DSLR camera, the Nikon D50 in late 2006 (upgraded to D80 in 2008). You may take a sneak peek into my website for the pictures that I took. Anyway, the word “afirozia” comes from two names, which are me and my other half.

After that, I realize that the world has evolved and there so much information flowing over the net. Thus, I’ve decided to expand the use of my website to include even more than photos, and the latest will be this “Sharing Is Caring” blog.

Till then, be prepared for more information that will be flowing into this blog more and more. :-)
